As of Friday, 207 people requested medical help after 40-50 liters of bromine were spilled from a train at a Chelyabinsk railway station on Thursday morning, 46 people were taken to a hospital, including two children and three rescuers.

Chelyabinsk’s transport prosecutors intend to fine an employee of the South-Urals railroad for violating health and safety procedures, Interfax reported.

The carriage on which the 6,267 jars with bromine were being transported was moved beyond the city limits. The spill caused a large yellow smoke cloud to hover over the city on Thursday.

Sep. 1 school celebrations close to the vicinity of the station were cancelled because of the accident.
